Treatment is the same as if you were at an osteopathic practice, however you do not need to worry about traveling to the practice or finding a parking space, a great advantage if you are in pain.

I bring all necessary equipment with me; all that you need to provide are towels for the treatment couch.

Mobile osteopathy provides a valuable service to patients who are not as mobile as other patients. It also offers patients the flexibility of being treated in their own home at a convenient time.

Your first consultation will last up to one hour.

If you have any questions during the consultation please do not hesitate to ask at any time.

Your first consultation covers the following four areas:

  • Case history

  • Examination

  • Treatment

  • After care (home exercises)

A detailed case history will be taken, which will include what you have suffered from in the past; any previous  treatment you have had. It may be necessary to take details of your past medical history, however please  be assured that like all medical notes these are recorded and stored in the strictest confidence.

Examination and Treatment:

You will be required to undress down to your underwear, so please wear something appropriate. After carrying out a full examination I will explain to you what I believe has happened, and how I intend to treat you. On occasion, however, it may be necessary to contact your G.P. to gain further clinical information or alternatively I may require you to be sent for some form of imaging (X-ray/ultra-sound or blood tests.) This will only be done with your full approval.

Typical types of treatment can involve massage, articulation of a joint and on occasion some form of manipulation.

Follow up:

You will usually to come back for continuation treatments, but, I should be able to give you some sort of time scale/number of treatments that you will require. A follow on treatment lasts approximately 45 minutes, where a short reappraisal will be taken to re-assess you, this may require further examination or testing, however, this will be discussed with you at the time and a treatment plan will be created.

After care:

You may be required to carry out home exercises,  which I will demonstrate to you, this will encourage a faster recovery. I may advise some sort of heat therapy.
